Taxonomic Notes:Porter's Goldenrod was originally described and named from Jasper Co., Georgia. It was first discovered in Alabama by Dwayne Estes in 2003; The discovery and collection was from Morgan County but unfortunately that population, the only one known at the time, has since been destroyed by road expansion. Additional populations have since been discovered also in Morgan County.--B.R. Keener
