Taxonomic Notes:After the original description by Engelmann as J. acuminatus var. robustus, Coville justifiably raised the entity to a species as Juncus robustus Coville(1896), a name blocked by an earlier J. robustus S. Watson (1879). This necessitated the replacement name in use today.
