Plant Notes:Few Flower Tick Trefoil is a native herbaceous perennial in the Bean family (Fabaceae). It can be found throughout most of Alabama. Few Flower Tick Trefoil grows in hardwood floodplain forests, along streams, in wet to mesic woods, and in prairies. It often occurs in areas with basic soils. Few Flower Tick Trefoil is a perennial with a thickened taproot or short rhizome. The stems are erect, 3-24 inches in length, usually unbranched, and sparsely pubescent to glabrate. Leaves are alternate, petiolate, and pinnately trifoliate. The leaflets are asymmetrically ovate to rhombic in outline, entire, and sparsely pubescent to glabrate. Flowers are produced in terminal or rarely axillary simple or branched racemes. The corolla is papilionaceous and white in color. The fruit is a 1-3 segmented loment. The loment is deeply incised and the segments are asymmetrical and uncinate pubescent.—A. Diamond
